10 Steps to Building an InsideView List and Using Marketo

Learn how to build a list in InsideView and export it into Marketo to create a Smart Campaign in these 10 easy steps: (attached as a PDF below)

 

1. Build a Geographic Territory

  • To begin building a list, start with building a Geographic Territory
  • Select the various states, zip codes, and area codes to narrow down your targeted audience

2. Select the Criteria of Your Targeted Audience

  • On the InsideView homepage, click on Build a List
  • Select People List
  • Narrow down the criteria you want for your list

3. Only show people with EMAIL ADDRESSES

  • Under the People criteria, select - only show people with: Email
  • You can also select Email and Phone
  • If you are creating an event on LinkedIn, it is best to only show people with the social network: LinkedIn

Hint: If you are inviting leads to an event, create a LinkedIn Event to connect with your

attendees. Create a list of leads on LinkedIn then include your LinkedIn Event link in your email.

 

4. Continue to Modify Criteria than SEARCH

  • InsideView allows marketers to modify Contact Lists to extremely granular levels
  • Continue to select the criteria of your targeted audience such as Company SIze, Industry, Revenue, etc.
  • Click Search

5. Check Search Results and Export

  • Check your Search Results
  • Click the Export icon that looks like a paper with an arrow pointing right
  • Then click Export to export your list to a CSV Excel file

6. Save your .csv File

  • In order for your list to be imported into Marketo, it must be a .csv file
  • Give your list an appropriate name than Save

7. Import Your List

  • In Marketo, click on Lead Database
  • Click on New where you will get a dropdown menu
  • Click on Import List

8. Select Your List and Match up Marketo Fields

  • Select Browse and click on your Saved Excel .csv file
  • Click Next to move onto Import Preview
  • Match up the Criteria with Marketo Fields • ie. If in the Excel Sheet you have “Title” but the Marketo field is “Job Title”

9. Build Your Maketo Smart Campaign

  • Go to Marketing Activities to begin building your smart campaign
  • Create a Smart Campaign
  • Under Smart List drag and drop Member of List
  • Find your imported list

10. Select Your Email and Schedule

  • Select Flow next to Smart List
  • Drag and drop Send Email - Select the email you are sending to your list
  • Select Schedule
  • Click on Run Once
  • Select either Run Now or Run Later
